Steps to Fix a Leaky Faucet and Bathtub Faucet Leaking

Step-1) Turn OFF the Water to the Leaky Faucet
At first, turn off the water to the leaky faucet, after that open the disturbing faucet to minimize the water pressure. As shown in fig.
Step-2) Loose the Screw of the Faucet Handle
Now loose the screw of the faucet handle, as shown in fig. Then remove the handle.
Step-3) Remove the Screws of the Faucet
After that remove the screws of the faucet then take off the set “escutcheon plate” which is fixed around the faucet.
Step 4) Take OFF the Bonnet Nut
Now Loose and take off the bonnet nut which is holding the stem of the faucet. See fig.
Step-5) Clutch the Valve Stem
You can use a couple of pliers to clutch the valve stem. So clutch and pull it safe straight out.
Step-6) See an O-ring
Now you can see an O-ring, it is just outside of the valve stem. Remove it.
Step-7) Change the O-ring
Change the O-ring and apply silicone grease (in a small amount) before sliding the new O-ring on the valve stem.
Step-8) Open and Close a few Times
You should open and close a few times to the main faucet of the water supply so that any dirt and debris could blow out before resetting the faucet.
Step-9) Slide the Valve Stem Back Side
Now slide the valve stem backside in the faucet then tight the bonnet nut.

Once you have tightened the bonnet nut also reattach all the parts of the faucet housing like – the escutcheon plate and handle.
